Covering
Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands,
and Worcestershire. After centuries of power struggles with Wales,
the border counties of Herefordshire and Shropshire are now truly part
of rural England. Remaining relatively uncrowded, the spectacular scenery through
the Wye and Severn Valleys is some of the most beautiful in the country
and, with some 9,500 acres of Cider Orchards, Herefordshire is the official
home of cider. Follow the 'Black & White Village Trail', wander through
ancient market towns or learn about the beginning of the Industrial Revolution
at Ironbridge Gorge. The region has five major cities each boasting a cathedral,
a delightful mix of new and old towns, plenty of historic monuments, and
is well catered for on the cultural arts scene. Whether it be unspoilt
countryside, picturesque villages, open moorland or country houses, this area caters
for all. Shakespeare to Staffordshire Pottery, Royal Worcester porcelain
to Victorian Spa towns, miles of canals to medieval castles, breweries
to steam railway journies, and Roman forts to Alton Towers Leisure Park. The
attractions are as diverse as the region itself, and well worth taking
the time to explore in depth. |
