Covering
Cumbria, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside and the
Isle of Man. Shaped by ice, frost and sun over a period of several thousand
years, Cumbria is dominated by a magical panorama of lakes and fells. The
Lake District has been a favourite haunt of painters, poets, and novelists,
as well as hikers, climbers and photographers. It is an amazingly impressive
and bewitching area with dramatic vistas that change constantly throughout
the seasons. Surprisingly, even in close proximity to the great industrialised
areas of Manchester and Liverpool, there are splendid natural beauty spots
to enjoy. A walk along a wooded escarpment, a stroll along a riverside path,
or a visit to one of the fine country mansions that this region has to offer.
Then there are the fabulous beaches stretching around Morecombe Bay, and
the essential visit to Blackpool, the northern mecca of the amusement industry.
For pursuits of a calmer nature, nothing will delight the eyes more than
the sight of pretty black and white timbered buildings that can be found
whilst driving through Cheshire. From Chester's famous city 'Rows', to a
little private cottage on the outskirts of a village, each property is unique
and striking. For something different again, the Isle of Man (strangely
not part of the UK) has strong Celtic associations, even taking it's name
from their God of the Sea. |
