Covering
Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire & Rutland. From the favourite beach resorts along the Lincolnshire
coast, the landscape changes dramatically from the gentle meadowland of
Northamptonshire to the rugged terrain of the Derbyshire Peak District.
Overshadowed by it's neighbours, Rutland is the smallest county in England.
But secreted within it's twenty mile breadth of largely unspoilt countryside
are numerous pretty villages of thatch and stone cottages, and the vast
expanse of Rutland Water, famous both for its watersports and its trout
fishing. Some 400 miles of public footpaths weave their way through Lincolnshire
which should tempt even the most reluctant walker, or cyclist, to explore
some of this beautiful area in depth. Maybe Robin Hood's legendary trail
through Nottinghamshire will stimulate the imagination, or seek inspiration
at the hands of Byron or D H Lawrence. Venture into the home county of the
pork pie, and the Battle of Bosworth, and then visit the lively city of
Leicester. Return to nature and the many challenges on offer in the glorious
Peak District, as famous for hill climbing as for it's wealth of grand country
houses, mineral water, and Bakewell pudding. |
